For the Zauberwald exposition in Lenzerheid, we created an interactive light installation. Inspired by the Mother Hulda fairytale, visitors were able to create digital snow by shaking a blanked.

An essential part of the installation is the input object. Here we explored many different ways how the visitors could interact. We ultimately decided to use a blanket equipped with a gyrosensor to measure the input.

Regarding the output, we decided to use long stripes of translucent material. By layering them in different shifts, it created a three-dimensional projection of snow.

We tested the installation at our school before we went into the woods to install everything.

The final projection had seven different states. By shaking the blanket, the visitors were able to reach a higher state.
